Amber: Something Wicked
The primary plane of existence. The Wellsprings of Creation and the Tree That Manifests the Myriad Worlds is at the center, surrounded by the Makers’ domain. The plane (it’s not a sphere) stretches out for hundreds of thousands of miles in all directions.
Some areas are hostile to the Makers. Others, like the (relatively) nearby Lands of the Dead, are alien and freaky.
The Lands of the Dead are organized (naturally or otherwise) into paradises, hells and everything in=between with complicated cycles of reincarnation (via the Tree) to the Myriad Worlds (Shadow). Dangerous for the living to travel there.
Tir-na Nogth was partially in the Middle Realms and partially in the remnants of Heaven. Inanna-Vialle pulled it all into Heaven when Vialle walked the Pattern there. Currently there is nothing in Heaven but Inanna-Vialle’s home the moon Rana (rahnah) and the planet that orbits it: Thilion (rhymes with Fillion).
Shadow/the Myriad Worlds is a secondary plane of existence supported by the first. It is subdivided (since the Remaking of Creation
- actually at least the third remaking) into innumerable worlds separated by Shadow Veils which strip off any Mantle of Power a traveler may be wearing.
*marks worlds on one of Amber’s trade loops or circles. Shadow Paths are one-way so the trade routes follow a loop from Amber to a number of trade partners and back to Amber. Some places are the jump-off point for secondary loops, served by smaller ships/caravans or less frequent ones. Some secondaries have tertiaries.
PARTICULAR SHADOWS ASSOCIATED WITH [owners are italicized:
LISETTE, FLORIMEL AND THE CREW: EARTH
It’s 1978. Ruled, to the limited degree they choose, by Florimel and now Lisette. Currently its Destiny is to not be findable by anyone not on a short list.
The world of Bel’s Pattern and the center of his empire.
LITTLE RED, BIG RED: SHADIZA* ‘shoddeeza’
The world of the Reds’ births. Shadiza City is tropical, a river port and a center of magic and alchemy. (Well, it was prior to being burnt down by Yagamar’s agents, and will be again.) On the tertiary Shadiza Loop*. The world is old and long-post-mystic-apocalyptic, with lots of plant and animal niches filled by artificial/engineered/magicked varieties. Notable for alchemy, drugs, poisons, dyes and the River Lords — oversized, intelligent, highly magical hippos who take no shit from anyone. Except, now, from Little Red. LR is setting up a cult, Mantle and so on. Also a Shadow Path transportation network.
:THE FLAYER’S WORLD (not owned by anybody, controlled by Yagamar the Manskinner.
Ravaged by God-King Yagamar the Flayer’s grossly inefficient strip mining of its magic and mage-born. The Reds (and their mothers) were taken there at about 5 years of age. At 11 they were taken to the Academy of Magery — think Hogwart’s crossed with a Soviet Science City academy and Devil’s Island.
GAIUS, CLAUDIA, AULA, OCTAVIA: REMA
Think Imperial Rome with a werewolf ruling class. One of Oberon’s projects. Ruled by Oberon’s wife Octavia with help from her daughter Claudia and grandchildren Aula and Gaius.
Std gunpowder: 150%. C4: more Time: 5:1
WILLIAM: WILL’S WORLD
Another Earth-analog. Renaissance-ish with useful magic for the rich and powerful.
Std gunpowder: 90%. Time: 2:1
:GENERAL ERVIN’S WORLD
An Earth-analog. WW2 with a Vallspawn invasion. Allied with William, Queen Moire and the anti-Vall camp in general. Time: 5:1
:DUKE ANDRED’S WORLD
An Earth-analog, roughly 15th C. William has hooks into Andred and his army.
Fertile, mostly uninhabited steppe area with some mammoths similar to the tribes’ own beasts. Where Will stashed the Shven.
QUEEN MOIRE, LLEWELLA: TIR FO THUNE (REBMA)
Technically conjoined with Amber, the place of Moire’s Pattern (formerly Lir’s)
JULIAN: ARDEN OR GREAT ARDEN
Formerly conjoined with Amber and Tir fo Thune. World of Julian’s Pattern, formerly Phraedis the Unicorn’s.
BENEDICT, KATSUME: AVALON
Benedict’s shadow wherein he is Lord Protector of a medium sized country under attack by Hellmaids and other minions of Vall.
Standard (Earth) gunpowder: N/E, not effective.
